Following another very successful year with record growth, I’m delighted to announce changes within the Bruce Stevenson Renewable Energy team.
These changes will enable the team to meet the demands of the next few years and to allow this important area of the business to further develop while meeting individual aspirations.
Stuart MacLeod, who started working for Bruce Stevenson in 2001, and has been part of the Renewable Energy team from the outset in 2006, has joined the Bruce Stevenson board as Director of Renewable Energy with the effect of September 2021. I have taken up the role of Divisional Director, focusing on developing the Bruce Stevenson and Aston Lark offering throughout the UK and Ireland, whilst maintaining an active role with existing clients and relationships.
Yvonne Miller is also promoted and will form a new management team with Stuart, managing the relationships with many of the key clients and professional relationships. Patrick Dourish is promoted to Account Executive, which he has been working towards for the past 12 months and will inherit a book of business while identifying new business opportunities.
The entire Renewable Energy team will have an opportunity to develop their roles and ambitions over the next few years, and this will be supported by further recruitment within the team in the next few weeks.
The Renewable Energy team have had superb growth over the past 10 years, and in the past 12 months have increased this by almost £1m in premiums. Stuart and Yvonne are being recognised for their ambition, knowledge and dedication, effectively becoming the most experienced brokers for this area of business in the UK. Doing so while also obtaining Chartered Institute of Insurance qualifications, including Yvonne’s Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Insurance, one of the few brokers in Scotland with this status.
We are sure that the team will continue to be a big part of our overall growth plans over the next three years and wish everyone the very best in the new structure. More importantly, this continues to provide the service and expertise our clients and professional partners expect from Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers.
As well as their expertise in Wind, Hydro, Solar, Biomass, Gas Peaking and CHP (combined heat and power), there has been considerable work on developing technologies such as hydrogen and battery storage. The insurance market has contracted in the past 24 months, so a major exercise is to identify capacity and competition in the market.
